Try a real monkey barman: 07-10-2008

Try a real monkey barman18814478Brits fed up of feeling like they are being served by a bunch of monkeys in UK pubs and restaurants may wish to travel to Japan where they can be served by the real thing.

Travellers in Tokyo can experience this kitsch service in the Kayabukiya tavern, just north of the city.

Yat-chan and Fuku-chan are macaques with a difference - they are (almost) the ultimate barmen.

The monkeys can bring customers beer and hot towels and even lend a seemingly sympathetic ear to those in need of a friend.

"These guys are really adorable - they're like my kids," one customer told the Daily Telegraph.

"Well actually better; my son doesn't listen to me but Yat-chan will!"

Travellers with concerns over animal rights need not fear. The monkeys only work two hour shifts and are paid generously in Soya beans.

Generally speaking, the monkeys offer hot towels to diners. But the older of the two - Yat-chan - has been known to fetch beers when his guests ask politely.
