Day by Day

Day 1London

Fly overnight from London to Tokyo arriving the following morning.

Day 2Tokyo

You are met at Narita airport by our English speaking representative and assisted with your onward transfer into Tokyo. You will also be able to exchange your rail pass voucher and book any required trains.

Day 3Tokyo

This morning make the most of any jet lag and visit Tsukiji fish market to see the early tuna auctions. Later, explore Tokyo's main attractions at your own pace.

Day 4Tokyo - Nagasaki

Transfer to Haneda airport and then take the short domestic flight to Nagasaki. On arrival visit the emotive Peace Park and Glover Gardens.

Day 5Nagasaki - Kumamoto

Today you travel from Nagasaki to the famous castle town of Kumamoto, via Unzen and Shimabara. Explore the town in the afternoon.

Day 6Kumamoto

Pick up your hire car today and drive to the Aso-Kuju National Park to see the spectacular caldera here. You drop off the car on your return to Kumamoto.

Day 7Kumamoto - Kagoshima

Transfer to Kagoshima by train and the explore the city in the afternoon.

Day 8Kagoshima - Kirishima National Park

Pick up your second hire car and after a visit to the smouldering volcano on Sakurajima head into the Kirishima national park. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 9Kirishima National Park

Walk or drive in the the park- the views over the plateau are wonderful .

Day 10Kirishima National Park - Kurokawa

Today is a long but scenic drive through some of Kyushu's countryside and the beautiful Takachiho Gorge. You arrive in quiet Kurokawa in the early evening.

Day 11Kurokawa

At leisure in Kurokawa to simply relax in one of the many hotspring baths that pepper the town.

Day 12Kurokawa - Fukuoka - Tokyo

Drive to Fukuoka and take the train to Tokyo for your final afternoon in Japan.

Day 13Tokyo

Transfer by limousine bus back to Narita for the return flight home.
