Visit Kamikochi, The Japanese Alps

Kamikochi is a perfect place to stretch your legs with easy walks along the river and hot springs at your hotel. It also plays host to the most exhilarating mountain treks in the country.

Kamikochi

The Japanese Alps, Japan

Kamikochi is one of the most beautiful places in Japan; a haven of unspoilt nature.

The ice blue glacial waters of Azusagawa river gush through the valley and the alps soar above you as you wander through forests before taking your obligatory photo on Kappabashi Bridge.

Walking and trekking

Kamikochi is a perfect place to stretch your legs with easy walks along the river and hot springs at your hotel. It also plays host to the most exhilarating mountain treks in the country. However, there are also a couple of good day walks that hikers and ramblers alike will enjoy.

When to visit

For the above reasons, Kamikochi is extremely popular with Japanese domestic tourists and local walkers. On summer weekends it can be very crowded and it's best to get there early, or to stay over the night before.
