Day by Day

Day 1London

Fly out from London to Beijing today with British Airways.

Day 2Beijing

On arrival in the city your make your way to your airport hotel accommodation where the rest of your day is spent at leisure.

Day 3Beijing - Ulaan Baatar

Make your way back to the airport this morning in time to meet your onward flight to the Mongolian Capital Ulaan Bataar. On arrival you will be met by your private driver and English speaking guide who will take you to your hotel accommodation at the heart of the city. The rest of your day is spent exploring the fascinating Museum of Mongolian National History with your guide which charts the development of this age old nation. In the late afternoon you take a visit to the Zaisen Hill memorial with your guide before enjoying an evening cultural performance which takes in everything from traditional Buddhist dance to Mongolian contortionism.

Day 4Ulaan Baatar

Enjoy a day tour of the city today including a visit to the magnificent Gandan Monastery, home to a gigantic statue of Buddha. This afternoon you visit the Winter Palace of the one time Mongolian spiritual leader the Bogd Khan. This palace itself is somewhat faded but the exhibits inside make for a fascinating insight into the nation before the Communist occupation.

Day 5Ulaan Baatar - Dalanzadgad - Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park

An early morning today as you transfer back to the airport in time to meet your onward flight down to Dalanzadgad, the first point on your adventure into the Gobi National Park. On arrival you travel into the park and on to the wonderful Three Camel Lodge where you will have chance to settle into your first nomadic ger tent before taking an evening excursion out to see the Flaming Cliffs at Byanzag.

Day 6Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park - Khongoryn Els (Khongor Sands)

Drive across the desert today to the spectacular 'Singing' sand dunes at Khongoryn Els. This is a long drive but should be a rewarding one with plenty of opportunities to stop off and take pictures along the way. This evening visit the dunes with your guide to catch them at their best as the sun sets.

Day 7Khongoryn Els (Khongor Sands) - Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park

Travel back towards the Three Camel Lodge today via the dramatic Dungenir Pass and the glacial canyon at Yolyn Am, known as a wonderful spot to view eagles and other wildlife.

Day 8Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park - Ongi Khiid

Continue on today on your journey back towards the capital today as you make your way to Ongi Khiid, home to some interesting monastery ruins.

Day 9Ongi Khiid - Kharakorum

Visit the ruins this morning before continuing on to the ancient Mongolian capital of Kharakorum.

Day 10Kharakorum - Khustaii Nuruu National Park

Your morning is spent exploring one of the country's most important monasteries Erdene Zuu with your private guide. This afternoon you continue on to the Khustaii National Park, home to the world's last surviving pre historic horse species the Takhi. You will have the opportunity to head out further into the park this evening to spot these beautiful creatures as they come down to feed in the late evening.

Day 11Khustaii Nuruu National Park - Ulaan Baatar

Continue back to the Mongolian capital today via the haunting monastery ruins at Manzushir. Your final evening is at leisure in the capital.

Day 12Ulaan Baatar - Beijing

Transfer back to the airport this morning in time to meet your flight back to Beijing. On arrival make your way to your airport hotel where your afternoon is spent at leisure.

Day 13Beijing

Make your way back to the airport this morning in time to meet your international flight to London.
