Astoria

St Petersburg

Offer available: Classic Russia: 8 days from £1,790 per personMore details

As with St Petersburg itself, the Hotel Astoria is a delightful meeting of new and classic elegance. Steeped in history, it was at the Astoria that Hitler planned to hold his victory banquet on conquering Leningrad.

The clean understated lines of its interiors give way to the stately gildings on the domes of St Isaac's Cathedral - the Astoria is in attendance on the cathedral square, a canal-side stroll from the Hermitage, the Yusupov Palace, and the Mariinsky Theatre.

Of its four restaurants the Davidov takes precedence, serving high Russian and European cuisine, whilst the Clarins Spa beckons at the end of a day's sightseeing.
