Sovietsky Hotel

Moscow

The Sovietsky Hotel is a piece of history - built in 1950 by decree of Stalin himself, the Sovietsky tended to communist party officials throughout the years of the cold war.

More recently it has hosted Margaret Thatcher and Arnold Schwarzenegger! Built in classic soviet style, its grand scale, moulded ceilings and pillars, and deep corridors create a tangible sense of history -The hotel houses the apartments where Stalin lived, now available as a suite.

The hotel is also famed for its restaurant, Yar, built in a one-time gypsy theatre in 1826, where performances complement the excellent Russian cuisine. The Sovietsky is a short taxi ride from Red Square, and close to Belorusskaya metro station.
