Museum of Political History
St Petersburg, Russia
The Museum of Political History is housed in the mansion of Kshesinskaya, who was a famous ballet dancer and Tsar Nicholas II's lover.
After the Tsar's abdication in March 1917 the mansion became the headquarters for the Bolsheviks, and Lenin gave many speeches from the balcony.
Now the house contains a fascinating overview of the Soviet era, as well as more recent times, and has some rare Soviet posters and cartoons. You receive a full guided tour in English.
