St Petersburg is the home of ballet - the dance was first developed here from the 18th century onwards, with all of the most famous ballets being premiered here. As well as ballet, the city has a thriving musical scene, with many fine orchestras and performers. We can arrange tickets and transfers to and from your hotel to the performance of your choice.

The playbill for St Petersburg's theatres is not released until around six weeks before performances. Therefore if you can be flexible over what date you attend a performance, and which theatre you go to, this will give you the maximum choice.

A few of the more famous theatres are: The Mariinsky Theatre is one of St Petersburg's, if not the world's, great cultural landmarks.

The home of the Kirov Ballet, whom many now consider to be the world's most accomplished company, the Mariinsky stands with its Moscow twin, the Bolshoi Theatre, as one of the world's great 'homes' of the art.

The Mussorgsky Theatre, located just off Nevsky Prospekt performs more contemporary works and is of a very good standard.

The Hermitage Theatre is in the Winter Palace, and was built on the orders of Catherine the Great. It is a small and beautiful venue.
