Taroko Gorge is the undisputed scenic highlight of Taiwan, the jewel of the national park of the same name.

The gorge itself is a marble canyon featuring a rushing whitewater river, towering cliffs, hiking trails and even the odd hot spring.

Trips to this area offer some magnificent photographic opportunities, starting with the gorge on island's eastern coast and extending along the winding Cross-Island Highway which runs over the mountains to connect the east and west coasts of Taiwan.
