Day 1London
You fly from London to Kathmandu via the Gulf.
Day 2Doha - Kathmandu
You transfer in the Gulf for your flight to Kathmandu, where you'll be met by your guide for the drive to your hotel in the city.
Day 3Kathmandu
Today you will enjoy a tour with your driver and guide, taking in Kathmandu's sights and attractions. You'll also visit the impressive Swayambunath temple.
Day 4Kathmandu - Gongkar - Tsetang
You transfer this morning to the airport for your flight from Kathmandu to Gongkar Airport in Tibet, where you will be met on arrival by your Tibetan guide for the drive to Tsetang. The afternoon should be taken at a leisurely pace to acclimatize to the high altitude.
Today your guide will accompany you by car to Samye Monastery - Tibet`s first Buddhist monastery. In the afternoon you continue on to Yambulagang Palace, home of the first 32 kings of Tibet. There are great views of the surrounding countryside from the palace.
This morning you will drive to the capital, Lhasa. On arrival you check into your hotel and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to wander through the Tibetan bazaar and streets of the old city.
You will visit the superb Potala Palace, seat of the Dalai Lamas, in the morning and in the afternoon explore Sera Monastery to see the monks debating. Later you will visit Lhasa`s only nunnery, near Barkhor Square.
This morning you will enjoy a tour of Lhasa`s most important temple, the Jokhang, and afterwards travel to the outskirts of Lhasa to visit the seat of the State Oracle, at Drepung.
You drive to Gyantse today on the Southern Friendship Highway, passing first the beautiful Turquoise Lake and later snow capped peaks. On arrival in Gyantse the evening is at leisure.
Today is spent with your guide visiting the impressive Pelkor Chode Monastery and the Kumbum with your guide. Afterwards you are at leisure to wander around the old town and maybe visit Gyantse Fort.
You will drive to Shigatse this morning, via Shalu Monastery and visit Tashilunpo monastery, the former seat of the Panchen Lama, in the afternoon. Afterwards you have some time at leisure to wander around and visit the local markets.
Today enjoy the passing scenery on the full day drive towards the Himalaya, eventually arriving at isolated Rongbuk Monastery, in the shadow of Everest. You will spend the night here at 5000 metres.
This morning you will walk up to Base Camp itself, for staggering views of Everest, before making the journey back up to Tingri, on the Friendship Highway.
Day 14Tingre - Kathmandu
Today you continue on towards Kathmandu, through the dramatically changing scenery as you drop sharply from the Tibetan Plateau into lush Nepal. You have the evening at leisure in Kathmandu.
Day 15Kathmandu - Doha
You return to the airport today for your flight back to London, via the Gulf, arriving home later this afternoon.
