    Football is in the veins of Brazil and seen at every turn. Brazil has given us such footballing greats as Pelé, Ronaldo and Kaka and the love and passion shown by the children passing balls in the street leave little doubt that more stars will follow.

    For wildlife viewing, there are few better places in the world than the Pantanal between April and September. The animals and birds found here are similar to those found in the nearby Amazon, but they are much easier to spot in the Pantanal. Animals seen here include capybara, caiman, anteater, armadillo, otter, marmoset and even jaguar and puma.

Iguaçu Falls

One of only two hotels within the protected National Park area of the falls (the other being the Sheraton on the Argentine side of the falls), the Orient Express owned Das Cataratas Hotel offers a great standard of accommodation in a pink-washed colonial style building.

Although there are 193 rooms, the hotel retains a boutique feel. Only the suites have what one could term a 'falls view', the other rooms have jungle or garden views. There is a pool, bar and 2 (rather expensive) restaurants, and if you walk out of the lobby of the hotel and cross the road then you are standing at the start of the pathway that takes you to the best view points on the Brazilian side of the falls.
