A wildlife watcher’s paradise, the Pantanal is an area about the size of England which is seasonally flooded when the Paraguay River and its tributaries burst their banks.
A wildlife watcher’s paradise, the Pantanal is an area about the size of England which is seasonally flooded when the Paraguay River and its tributaries burst their banks. This turns the region into something of a swamp which is home to thousands of types of animal.
As the waters recede, pools are created where the wildlife gathers, meaning wildlife viewing is relatively easy. Animals that should be seen include jabiru storks, egrets, herons, toucans, capybara, caiman, anacondas, giant anteaters and otters, and possibly jaguars.
