Cali Fair spices up Colombia: 24-12-2007

Each Christmas, the Cali Fair takes place in Colombia and celebrates the lively traditions of Latin American music.
Known as the Salsa capital of Colombia, there is plenty of lively Latin-American dancing surrounding this event that focuses on colourful parades and parties.
This year, the event takes place on Christmas Day through to December 30th and it is the 50th anniversary of the festival.
About 50 salsa acts perform every day and night and a grand horse procession parades around the streets.
A beauty pageant selects the Senorita Cali and there are sports competitions as well as salsa and tango contests giving visitors the chance to enjoy some real Latin American culture.
Bullfighting also occurs although this is not for the faint hearted but holidaymakers will find plenty else to do in the action packed event.
The event is regarded by some as the most important cultural event in Colombia and is a celebration of Cali's cultural identity.
For holidaymakers wishing to see more countryside and landscape scenes, then a trip to the National Natural Park of Colombia should not be missed.
