Malachy O'Neill was studying Renaissance maps of the New World at university in Dublin as part of an English literature degree, and his curiosity was caught by Patagonia, which he decided to visit after graduating. He spent most of the following two years living in Argentina, dividing his time between Buenos Aires and the lake district to the south of Bariloche, where he built a cabin in the mountains. Latin American music is another interest of Malachy's, and he returns from each successive trip with a bulging bag of old tangos, sambas, and other dusty forgotten records. On behalf of Audley Malachy has travelled throughout Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay and has extensive knowledge of Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia.
