Tailor-made Peru: Highlights

Explore Lake Titicaca and the Uros islands

The highest navigable lake in the world, most people have heard of Lake Titicaca in a geography lesson at some point. The lake itself is vast and beautiful, the culture of the people still living on the lake fascinating. Visiting the floating Uros islands made of reeds is an interesting experience - if somewhat 'spongy' underfoot.

Explore Machu Picchu

Whilst Machu Picchu is obviously going to come in as highlight number one for Peru, it really is a fascinating site and a memory that will stay with you forever. Exploring the site early in the morning when there are not many people there, and discovering the architecture, and how the Incas lived is fascinating. If you are fit and adventurous, climbing Huayna Picchu gives a different perspective on the site, but it's not for the faint-hearted!

Spend some time in the Sacred Valley

The Sacred Valley always comes to mind first when having spent time in Peru. The scenery is magnificent but it is the opportunity to see rural Peru which is particularly memorable. The ruins of Pisac and Ollantaytambo are both impressive and work well as you build up to your arrival at Machu Picchu but there is so much that people miss as they rush to Peru's biggest attraction. Taking the time to truly explore the towns, villages, markets, ruins and walking trails of this beautiful region is a rewarding and memorable experience.
