Cuba to send animals to Venezuela: 13-08-2008

Cuba is set to send Venezuela a number of zoo animals to boost the country's attractions.
A total of ten animals are expected to be transferred from Havana to Venezuela and these include a giraffe named "Evo", as well as a lion, a pygmy hippopotamus, two hyenas, an antelope and an akoli African cow.
Reports from Reuters said that a white rhinoceros may also make the trip at a later date.
The Havana National Zoological Park is able to spare the animals as it houses one of the biggest collections of wildlife in the world.
Around 400 zebras and 300 lions have actually been born within the compound and Havana zoo director Tomas Escobar believes this is evidence of the "very good quality" animals that Venezuelan zoos will be receiving.
The transfer of animals is part of an agreement that sees Venezuela give medical equipment to Cuba.
