Record breaking stew cooked up in Venezuela: 17-09-2007

Over 15,000 litres of stew has been prepared by Venezuelan chefs in a record-breaking attempt.
A total of 100 people joined forces to cook the traditional stew known locally as sancoho which involved 7,000kg of vegetables and a staggering 5,000 kg of meat and chicken.
The whole event was organised by the country's food ministry in order to highlight the latest government initiative aimed at reducing food shortages across the country and it is expected that the stew could feed as many as 70,000 locals.
Rafael Oropeza, the country's nourishment minister, said: "There's enough to celebrate with the family and with all of the citizens that want to participate."
The Guinness Book of Records is set to confirm that the Venezuelan stew will claim the record from the current holders in Mexico who prepared just 1,413 gallons of spicy soup back in July.
