Places to See and Stay: Los Llanos - Venezuela

A marvellous place for wildlife spotting, the Llanos is a vast seasonally flooded savannah that spreads across Venezuela’s heartland towards the Colombian border, rivalling Brazil’s Pantanal for biodiversity but with far fewer visitors. Flat and fertile, five national parks protect wildlife that ranges from anteaters to anacondas, as well as a spectacular variety of birds, monkeys, big cats, river dolphins, caiman and capybara.
