El Mapi
Machu Picchu
El Mapi is a new hotel in the heart of Aguas Calientes village owned by the Inkaterra chain. The owners aim to offer the same levels of service associated with this upmarket Peruvian chain but for travellers on a more modest budget. Smart and contemporary are the defining elements of this hotel and, whilst not overly characterful, comfort and service are at the heart of its operation.
The hotel is equipped with 48 rooms (40 Superior and 8 Deluxe) all fitted with two twin or one king bed, blackout curtains, 100% cotton sheets, down duvets covers, 2 hypoallergenic pillows per guest, cotton bath robes, hair dryers, safety box and telephone. The hotel is a short walk from the main bus stop to Machu Picchu as well as the daily covered market. The in-house restaurant caters for three meals a day (the only one serving this in this category of hotel) but there is a wealth of other restaurants close-by.
