    Machu Picchu is the obvious draw of any trip to Peru, but there are many more Inca and pre-Incan sites to interest archaeologists and historians at all levels. From the Sacred Valley of the Inca’s to the lesser explored pre-Incan ruins on the northern coast and the vast pre-Incan city of Kuelap, Peru has the greatest array of sites in South America.

Diversifying in recent years, the trail can offer options for all abilities, budgets and timescales. Alternative Inca trails also provide the opportunity to get away from the mainstream and provide varied levels of comfort.

The large, pink Libertador is located to the north of Arequipa city centre in front of a quiet park.

Built in the 1940s in a colonial style, the hotel has 88 spacious rooms, varying in size from the standard room at 30sq m to the Suites at 50sq m in size.

Facilities at the hotel include the fine Los Robles restaurant, where the buffet breakfast and a la carte lunches and dinners are served.

There is also a 24 hour business centre, gift shop, recently remodelled gym and spa and an outdoor Jacuzzi and an (unheated) pool with gardens.
