Map of Brazil
Brazil is a vast country, but specific areas can be focussed on for an abundance of birdlife. The Amazon and the cloudforest west of Rio are both filled with a vast amount of diverse and varied wildlife, but the best for the lay birder by far is the Pantanal wetlands area.
Birding in Brazil is particularly excellent thanks to the vast array of colour, size, magnificence and character of the birds that live there and the ease in observing them. Birding highlights include the enormous jabiru stork, the rufescent tiger heron with beautiful, intricate patterning on its feathers, tiny kingfishers darting amongst the trees and flocks of graceful cormorants passing overhead. Brazil is a must for bird lovers.
