Day 1London
Overnight flight from the UK to Borneo.
On arrival in Tawau where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the night.
You will be met at your hotel by a representative from Maliau Basin who will take you on the five hour 4WD transfer in to Borneo's 'Lost World'.
As you approach the Basin you may be able to make a stop at the watch tower and sky bridge at Belian Camp - time and weather dependent.
On arrival at Agathis Camp you will be shown around and can get acquainted with the area. Enjoy dinner at the camp before you head out on a shared 4WD night safari - weather dependent.
Begin your day with an early breakfast before setting off at 7am on your first trek. The first two hours climbing the rim of the Basin are the hardest of the trip but you will be rewarded by magnificent views. At the end of the day you have the option of visiting two of Maliau's spectacular waterfalls - discuss the options with your guide.
Arrive at Nepenthes Camp this evening for a well deserved rest and evening meal.
Spend the morning trekking. This is a more relaxing day; on arrival at Ginseng Camp you will have lunch, with the afternoon at leisure.
Spend the night surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle.
This is a busy and exciting day trek to Maliau falls, with a testing descent to see the spectacular tiered waterfalls. After a tricky climb back to Lobah camp will trek back to Ginseng for evening at leisure.
Final trek back to Agathis, with lunch here. After an hour or two's rest you will return by car to Tawau, with an overnight stopover, a welcome warm shower and a comfortable bed!
This morning you will be met and transferred to Mataking Island, a beautiful spot with superb snorkelling and gorgeous beaches.
Here you will have three nights of well earned relaxation.
