The Amara

Beneath the Shan Mountains you will find the Amara, set amidst the fragrant pine forests of Kalaw where the air is cool and pleasant. This wonderfully atmospheric property was originally built in 1909 and lovingly restored in 2002.

It now offers guests spacious and comfortable double rooms with open fireplaces and tasteful decor. The restaurant has great forest views and serves both local and Burmese cuisine.

In our opinion the Amara is the most comfortable and atmospheric base from which to explore this delightful area.
