Depart the UK on a direct flight to Bangkok.
In Bangkok connect with a flight to Rangoon.
On arrival you will be met by your driver and guide and transferred to your accommodation for check-in. Evening at your own leisure.
With your private guide enjoy a tour of the city's highlights and a ride on the circle train. This is a great chance to interact with the local people, who will be interested to chat to you. The day ends with a visit to the Shwedagon at sunset.
This morning you depart your hotel and are taken to the airport for your flight to Sittwe.
On arrival in to Sittwe you will be met by your driver and guide and taken on an afternoon`s tour of this former garrison town.
Today you will take the boat to Mrauk U along the Kaladan River, an absolutely stunning journey enabling you to relax on the top deck and float up-stream alongside the many river side temples that adorn this area.
After breakfast you will be taken on a journey in and around the quiet and exotic town of Mrauk U, including a visit to the Shittaung and Kothaung pagodas.
Today take a boat journey along the Lay Mro River named after the four ancient capitals along the banks, to visit the Chin villages where the elder tribeswomen bear testament to the art of facial tattooing.
An early start allows you to witness the banks of the Kaladan River come alive with activity as you journey downstream to Sittwe in time for the flight to Rangoon.
Afternoon at leisure.
Fly to Mandalay and transfer to the colonial hill station of Maymyo where you will spend the night. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure exploring this fascinating town.
Depart Maymyo to Naung Cho for a short train journey over the famous Goteik Viaduct. Disembark at the next town and continue on to Hsipaw.
Rest of the day at your own leisure.
Today you explore further afield of Hsipaw and take a boat trip to the confluence of the Namtu and Dotawaddy rivers.
This morning you depart Maymyo and head back to Mandalay by road, arriving late afternoon.
Visit the ancient cities of Ava and Amarapura taking in the sites by pony and trap and a walk along U Bein's beautifully constructed teak bridge.
This morning you depart Mandalay for the quaint town of Monywa, stopping en route at Sagaing. This an important seat of Buddhist learning with monasteries and nunneries dotted all over the hillside with views out over Mandalay.
Early afternoon you arrive in Monywa where you have the rest of the day to explore this sleepy riverside town on the banks of the Chindwin River.
Departing Monywa by road you visit Shwe Ba Hill and Po Win Temple, two wonderful and relatively untouched sites in the area, before you drive south to Pakokku, a trading town on the banks of the Irrawaddy River.
Here you board a boat and journey downstream to Pagan, where thousands of temples scatter the landscape.
This morning you will visit the dusty plains of Pagan, exploring some of the many temples and stupas that make this site an historical treasure.
Fly to Heho and transfer to the former colonial hill station of Kalaw.
You have the afternoon at leisure in this pretty and multicultural hill station.
You depart Kalaw for a nearby village where your two-day trek begins. Walk through ethnic villages and stop off for local delicacies before staying the night at the village monastery.
After breakfast continue your trek through Shan State and numerous villages heading for the temples of Indein and Inle Lake for lunch.
Enjoy a day exploring the serene nature of Inle Lake visiting floating communities, markets and interacting with the local Intha people.
Day at your own leisure to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility.
Fly to Rangoon where you have use of a day room at a hotel close to the airport and a driver and guide at your disposal for any last minute shopping or visits.
Early evening fly to Bangkok and connect with your flight to London.
