Visit the Elephants Livelihood Initiative Environment ELIE, located a bumpy car journey approximately one hour from the town, where you can learn more about Cambodia's elephants and the efforts to protect them in the area.
This is truly a unique experience to see elephants cared for in their natural environment and the views around the area are impressive. If you are fortunate you may also spot some of the wildlife in the area such as gibbons and eagles. Trained mahouts accompany you while on the elephants and the day will normally comprise of two short treks through the jungle to waterfalls.
Returning to the town you can visit a local ethnic minority village of the Pnong before ascending a viewing point near Sen Monorom town which provides a stunning vista for seeing the surrounding area and watching the sun set.
