Accommodation in
Burma

The Strand was built in 1901 and is the oldest hotel in Burma, though it was completely renovated in 1993. The three-storey hotel has 32 suites which are serviced by a team of efficient and helpful butlers. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with local art and antiques, and filled with the smell of fresh flowers. Even if you are not staying here, The Strand Cafe is a good place to stop for afternoon tea. A major city landmark, it is located on Strand Road in the centre of town, near the Yangon River.
