Cambodia reveals ancient secrets18570854Archaeologists have found remains of utensils and pottery that were made by a pre-historic community living in a cave in Cambodia.

Located on the Khao Noi mountain, archaeologists think that the find could date back about 4,000 years.

Locals reported some objects on the floor of the cave and this prompted archaeologists to take over, with the remains of an ancient community awaiting.

Kammanitya Direksilpa of the Chanthaburi Marine Archaeological Office said that three sites had already been explored.

He told MCOT News that the site stretched across seven kilometres and was probably on one of the major trade and cultural routes connecting the region with Thailand.

As well as being a place with plenty of archaeological sites, Cambodia's history is also expressed through its culture which has been influenced by neighbouring regions such as Laos and Thailand.

Travellers taking a luxury holiday to Cambodia will have plenty of opportunities to learn about the country's history by visiting the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum which depicts a more recent and dark period of the country's history.
