Rare birds on the up in Cambodia: 15-04-2008

Storks, pelicans and ibises are just a few of the rare species of bird making a comeback to Cambodia.
Some of the species have grown 20 times in number since 2001 after the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Ministry of Environment of the Royal Government of Cambodia employed former hunters and egg poachers to monitor the birds.
They watched the birds round the clock to ensure that they remained safe and unthreatened in the Tonle Sap region.
The area is the largest and often the only remaining home for breeding populations of the threatened waterbird species, motherjones.com reports.
Wildlife is one of Cambodia's biggest attractions and various different species can be found across the country.
