Tailor Made Holidays in Malaysia: In the News

Far East offers best value for money for travellers: 03-10-2008

Far East offers best value for money for travellers18811034Travellers looking for an adventure holiday should head to Thailand and Malaysia, according to new research from the Post Office.

The findings reveal that the Far East destinations offer typical traveller purchases - such as a three-course evening meal, suncream and a cup of coffee - at a lower cost than other far-flung holiday locations.

Prices were approximately a quarter of those in Barbados, while they were also cheaper than some mid-haul destinations - especially Turkey and Egypt, where prices have risen 21 per cent and 24 per cent respectively since April.

The survey involved collecting figures supplied by local tourist authorities. The 10 standard purchases in Thailand came to £33.83, while in Malaysia the figure amounted to £37.98 - cheaper than South Africa (£48), Egypt, Turkey and the US (£65) and Jamaica and Cyprus (£75).

It's not all good news for travellers planning to head to the Far East, though. The low costs would likely be offset against by the higher fuel charges that accompany long-haul flights. A family of four, for example, would have to fork out around £900 in surcharges.
