Football feast for Malaysian travellers: 05-09-2008

Travellers with a love for football need not miss out on their fix of the beautiful game, with a professional league in most countries around the world.

But other events take place, which can give lovers of the game a different perspective and experience than they would be likely to have in the UK.

The FA of Malaysia (FAM), for instance, has organised its first Felda National Futsal League, which will coincide with the national beach football carnival next month.

Futsal Committee chairman Hamidin Mohd Amin explained that the league will begin on October 30 and run until February 23rd, with 24 teams competing for three trophies.

The national beach football carnival will take place in Telok Chempedak in Kuantan between October 16th and 19th, meaning that travellers will have no shortage of events to attend while visiting the country.

Despite beach football's growing popularity in the UK, it is unlikely that it will ever appeal as much as it does in Malaysia, with temperatures soaring and the sun shining, it beats the beaches in Britain hands down.
