Experience the traditional culture and scenery of Northern Thailand and contribute to its ongoing survival.
The itinerary begins with a visit to the hill tribe museum in Chiang Mai which gives a wonderful insight into the hill tribe social system and way of life that is so deeply rooted in the culture of this region. This is followed by a visit to some of the best maintained hill tribe villages in the region, where you can meet some of the villagers, witness the children at schools and observe how sustainable tourism policies created by the Government are keeping this way of living alive. Accommodation for this part of the trip is at the Lisu Lodge, winner of 5 international awards for being a role model for sustainable tourism development. The lodge actively contributes to village life and supports various aid projects.
After Chiang Mai, you visit Mae Hong Son and Pai to experience more of the hill tribe country before trying your hand at elephant riding and bamboo rafting. In the evening you recover from your exertions at the eco friendly Fern Resort.
The tour finishes with a two night visit to Khao Yai National Park, Thailand's oldest, where you can see a vast array of native wildlife from elephants to gibbons and macaques. The trip will include both a days’ guided visit to the park and a night safari, before you return to Bangkok for your flight home.
