Chiang Mai Festival: 04-04-2008
April is a brilliant time for visiting Thailand, for though many different cultural events occur throughout the year it is April when the Chiang Mai festival takes place.
Taking place every year from the beginning of April to the 8th, the event is a fusion of music, theatre, art and food.
Outdoor concerts, food stalls and energetic dance displays provide a glimpse into Thai culture and a chance for locals to celebrate their traditions and ensure they are kept alive for future generations.
Food is an important part of the festival, and aong with the customary red and green curries there are Thai soups, noodle dishes and fish cakes as well as vegetables.
Much of the food is spicy but a lot of emphasis is placed on aroma and taste so a range of flavours such as garlic, ginger, lime and coconut are all popular choices.
