This trip is ideal for the first time visitor to Vietnam, taking in all the highlights, plus one or two unusual Audley twists. Starting in the north, visit the colonial capital, Hanoi, before taking a train into the Tonkinese Alps. Returning to Hanoi, you head out to Halong Bay, spending a night on board a traditional junk. Travelling to the centre of the country, you spend time in both Hue and Hoi An. A short flight reaches Saigon, from where you will spend a few days exploring the backwaters of the Mekong Delta.
Extensions
Fly to Phu Quoc Island for a few days relaxing at the end of your tour. Only a short flight from Saigon, some time on these beautiful tropical beaches provides the perfect way to unwind. Alternatively fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia, the gateway to the temples of Angkor.
