Bears kept safe in Vietnam: 08-04-2008

Travellers visiting Vietnam may be able to see bears among the other species in the Tam Dao National Park.
The Tam Dao National Park is a mountainous region with lots of vegetation and tropical forest.
According to the Vietnam tourist board, there are 904 different species of flora in the park along with 307 different species of animal.
Visitors will be interested to know that, along with the vast number of animals already in the park, a new bear sanctuary could bring a different aspect to the area's experience.
The centre offers refuge to bears rescued from illegal meat and bile farms with the first arrivals being four endangered Asiatic black bears.
About 30 acres in size, the rescue centre is still being constructed but it is expected to hold about 200 bears when it reaches completion in 2009.
