Day by Day

Day 1London

Overnight flight from the UK to Java.

Day 2Kuala Lumpur - Jakarta

On arrival in Jakarta you will need to obtain your Indonesian visa (US$25pp for 30 days) before meeting your private guide who will take you to your hotel around one hour away.

Day 3Jakarta

Get a taste of Jakarta, one of the largest cities in the world, with a half day city tour with a local guide.

Day 4Jakarta - Bandung

Journey overland to Bandung today, stopping at Bogor to see the famous botanical gardens home to over 3,000 orchids. Closer to Bandung you will visit one of the vast tea plantations and take lunch overlooking this stunning part of the country. **LUNCH IS INCLUDED TODAY

Day 5Bandung

Visit the Tangkuban Prahu volcano site today and then relax your aching muscles with a dip in hot springs!

Day 6Bandung - Wonosobo

Take an early train across the Java countryside to the hill town of Wonosobo.

Day 7Wonosobo - Yogyakarta

Today you will visit some of Java's oldest and most import temples at the remote Dieng Plateau. From here you will continue on to your hotel next to Borobudur.

Day 8Yogyakarta

Rise early for a sunrise trip to Borobudur - sure to be a highlight of your time away. Settle down on the ancient relic and soak up the atmosphere of this remarkable site, built in the 8th century and only rediscovered in 1814. You will head in to Jogja this afternoon where you will stay in the city centre for two nights.

Day 9Yogyakarta

Take a guided tour of Jogja today, visiting the Sultan's Palace and learning about the history of Java's most traditional regency.

Day 10Yogyakarta - Blitar

On route to Blitar you will first visit the ancient temple complex of Prambanan - home to some 244 temples and one of the most important Hindu sites in the world. Continue on to the intriguing Candi Sukuh temple on the slopes of Gunung Lawu - a site that still remains somewhat of an enigma in Java.

Day 11Blitar - Malang

Take a short tour of Blitar before continuing on to the town of Malang where you have two nights in this quaint town.

Day 12Malang

Visit a local food market and take part in a cooking class at the Tugu Malang hotel which will show off some excellent Java cuisine! **LUNCH IS INCLUDED TODAY

Day 13Malang - Mount Bromo

After a morning at leisure you will take the steep and windy roads up to the Mount Bromo area today. Have an early night ahead of your start tomorrow.

Day 14Mount Bromo - Ijen Plateau

Rise early to see one of the most spectacular sights in Southeast Asia - sunrise over Mount Bromo. You will then take the train across eastern Java to the furthest tip of the island where you will spend a couple of days exploring Ijen National Park.

Day 15Ijen Plateau

Trek up Mount Ijen and see the sulphur lakes before then visiting the fishing villages and plantations that are scattered around the area.

Day 16Ijen Plateau - Ketapang Harbour - Jimbaran

Today you will cross over to Bali and take a journey down to Jimbaran Bay to spend the night before your early flight the next day.

Day 17Jimbaran - Denpasar - SingaporeLondon

Fly back to the UK where you will arrive this evening.
