    The northern part of Laos is a remote region that sees few tourists. Heading north from the Thai border towards China, the town of Luang Nam Tha is the gateway to the Nam Ha National Park, with countless opportunities to explore on foot, by kayak and on mountain bikes. A little further south you will stumble upon the picturesque area of Muang La and the dramatic valley of Nong Khiaw before arriving by road or boat at the cultural centre of Luang Prabang.

Set on the banks of the Mekong River, this wonderful colonial-style property has tastefully decorated Laotian-inspired rooms on its two floors.

The Apsara overlooks the Nam Khan river and the ‘Big Elephant’ mountain, so rising early is rewarded with spectacular sunrises. At the other end of the day you will enjoy choosing from the mouthwatering restaurant menu which has a creative mixture of Laotian and Western dishes.

In our opinion the Apsara combines character with comfort and is one of the best value hotels in Luang Prabang.
