    The northern part of Laos is a remote region that sees few tourists. A little further south you will stumble upon the picturesque area of Muang La and the dramatic valley of Nong Khiaw before arriving by road or boat at the cultural centre of Luang Prabang.

Recently acquired and upgraded by the Alila group, a leading chain of small and luxurious properties in Asia, this small boutique hotel is set in a traditional Lao villa in the heart of Luang Prabang.

The 15 rooms are stylish with wooden floors and air-conditioning while several have balconies looking out over the street.

The terrace outside the hotel is a great place to watch the world go by. Monks creak along on ancient bicycles and street sellers pass, laden with goods and moving at a typically relaxed Lao pace.
