Fly from London to Bangkok with Thai Airways.
Connect at Bangkok for your onward flight to Laos. Arrive in Luang Prabang and relax for the rest of the day in this tranquil location.
A chance to take part in a spiritual ritual that has been a part of Luang Prabang's heritage since time immemorial - alms giving to the local community of monks at dawn. You then return to your hotel for breakfast before spending the day with your own private guide exploring the delights of Luang Prabang using electronic bicycles. In the afternoon you will take a trip to the scenic waterfalls at Kuang Si.
Spend the day exploring this UNESCO World Heritage site at your own leisure, soaking up the atmosphere of this most charming of towns.
Transfer by road through the mountains to Phonsavan, home to the mysterious Plains of Jars. The road travels through some of the most impressive scenery in Southeast Asia.
Day 6Phonsavan
Visit the three sites of the strange giant stone jars and the ancient capital at Muang Kham. You may wish to try the hot springs while you are here.
Enjoy another day of stunning scenery as you descend from the mountains to the tiny capital city of Vientiane.
A morning tour of Vientiane and the rest of the day free - we highly recommend the herbal sauna and massage in the grounds of a monastery on the edge of town!
Venturing further into the heart of Laos today you enter the stunning national park of Hin Boun. As you travel south you will see the Mekong on your right and beautiful karst limestone hills on your left. Overnight at a small hotel on the banks of the river.
Today explore the massive cave at Kong Lor and travel through the beautiful scenery of the park, arriving in the riverside town of Thakek for a couple of nights.
Spend the day exploring this beautiful national park, including the sacred and little known Buddha Cave and enjoy a spot of kayaking.
Back on the road to travel further south today, along journey but well worth if for the beautiful location of La Folie in the 4000 islands.
Today you will tour the 4000 islands area which will involve various boat journeys as well as a visit to a wood carving village.
Today you will visit Wat Phou, the predecessor of Angkor Wat and a magnificent ruin. Spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Day 15Pakse - Chong Mek - Ubon Ratchathani
After a morning to relax you will be taken to the Thai border and then to the town of Ubon Ratchathani to catch your flight to Bangkok.
Just after midnight you board your flight back to the UK arriving early morning.
