Reasons To
Visit Laos

  • Lao monks

The Baci ceremony in Laos is an important blessing in Buddhist culture and is used to celebrate any landmark event. A traditional ceremony hosted by a Lao monk will make your trip even more memorable.

  • Sunset over the Mekong

There are few things in Southeast Asia that can beat a beer Lao as the sunsets over the Mekong - from the riverbanks in Luang Prabang to the 4000 islands, watching the world go by at sunset is a must.

  • The North

The northern part of Laos is a remote region that sees few tourists. Heading north from the Thai border towards China, the town of Luang Nam Tha is the gateway to the Nam Ha National Park, with countless opportunities to explore on foot, by kayak and on mountain bikes. A little further south you will stumble upon the picturesque area of Muang La and the dramatic valley of Nong Khiaw before arriving by road or boat at the cultural centre of Luang Prabang.

The landscape and limestone mountain range around the small town of Vang Vieng is perfect for people who enjoy soft adventure.

After breakfast you visit Tham Jang. The historical cave was used as a defence bunker against the Chinese in the 19th century. The cave offers superb views of the surrounding countryside and dramatic limestone karsts, from an opening in the limestone wall of the main cavern. From here, continue further north by road, where you will visit a plantation and then the scenic Lao Lum village at Ban Pha Tang.

You also have the opportunity to enjoy a boat trip or kayaking on the Nam Song river, certainly one of the highlights of the excursion. In the afternoon, you cycle through the scenic countryside, where you will visit a Hmong village and a small Mon-Khmer village. From there, you continue cycling, passing green paddy fields, and onto Phoukham caves, returning to your hotel by late afternoon.
