Allowing for slight variations between the north and south, Laos experiences three seasons.
The best time to travel is from November through to April, when the weather is warm and dry with cool nights. Temperatures begin to rise in March, with the rains usually breaking sometime in May or June. September can be very wet and short tropical downpours are a possibility on most days in October and early November.
Although Luang Prabang is often seen as the obvious highlight of the country, the South differs vastly from other areas in Laos and is certainly worth exploring.
