Allowing for slight variations between the north and south, Laos experiences three seasons.
The best time to travel is from November through to April, when the weather is warm and dry with cool nights. Temperatures begin to rise in March, with the rains usually breaking sometime in May or June. September can be very wet and short tropical downpours are a possibility on most days in October and early November.

October
The Mekong River is fed and feeds numerous other smaller rivers and tributaries, so it's not surprising there are a number of waterfalls to see. October is also at the end of the wet season so these waterfalls are at their most impressive.
