Ideally placed to explore Georgetown this is by far the most luxurious option in the city.
Founded in 1885 by the Sarkies brothers who were later to build Singapore’s Raffles, the Eastern and Oriental was once considered the finest hotel east of Suez.
Now renovated and restored to its former glory, complete with pith-helmeted doormen, it has wonderful views over the Straits of Malacca – especially from the swimming pool – and an imposing location in the heart of the city’s historic centre.
All 101 guest suites are fitted with colonial furnishings over polished wooden floors and have a full butler service.
Our rating: Deluxe
Superb accommodation with facilities and service to match.
Taman Negara is the oldest rainforest on the planet and offers great selection of trails, river journeys, a wealth of flora and fauna and the most extensive canopy walkway in Southeast Asia.
