UNESCO sites Malacca and George Town were once cities which rose from humble fishing villages to become major centres of the spice trade. Four centuries of European influence have left behind rich cultural icons including Dutch churches, remnants of ruined Portuguese and British fortresses and imposing town halls.

Accommodation in Malaysia: The Aryani

Quiet, secluded and intimate. the Aryani is ideal for those looking for a relaxing beach break without having to stay in the larger resorts that generally go with this.

Our Rating: Medium

The Aryani

By Malaysian standards a resort of minuscule size with only 20 rooms, the Aryani is an ideal spot for those seeking traditional style but without the trappings of modern resorts.

The palm tree filled gardens are sumptuous and lengthy beach deserted but for local fishermen bringing in their catch. The hotel offers its guests a small restaurant overlooking the pool, boutique shop, library, swimming pool and the Heritage spa with massage and jacuzzi.

With regard to room choice we recommend either the deluxe rooms which are pool facing and have an outdoor bath or the larger suites with private verandas. Other room facilities are as you would expect with television, telephone, mini-bar and a ‘Hollywood’ sized bed!
