This trip focuses on the gardens and wildlife of Malaysia and Borneo. You will visit the impressive Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur, the biggest botanical garden in Malaysia, and the Boh tea plantation in the Cameron Highlands. Then fly to Borneo where wildlife surrounds you on the Kinabatangan River. At Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre you can learn about the work being done to protect these amazing animals and have a chance to see them close up.

Day by Day

Day 1London

Overnight flight from the UK to Malaysia.

Day 2Kuala Lumpur

You will be met at the airport by an Audley representative who will take you to your private car for the transfer to your hotel in central Kuala Lumpur.

Day 3Kuala Lumpur

Today you will be taken on a private walking tour of Kuala Lumpur. You will see the main sights and also get a more in depth view of the city by taking local transport such as the monorail and visiting a local tea house to sample the famous teas!

Day 4Kuala Lumpur

You may like to visit the lake gardens for a walk around this tranquil area before you are taken on a guided trip to Putrajaya with it`s impressive gardens and architecture.

Day 5Kuala Lumpur - Cameron Highlands

This morning you will be collected at the hotel and taken to the Cameron Highlands. The scenic journey sees you climbing into the cooler temperatures of the highlands. Once you have arrived at your hotel you may like to have a walk around the area and see why this is known as one of Malaysia`s most beautiful areas.

Day 6Cameron Highlands

Enjoy a full day exploring the Cameron Highlands with your private guide. This is where all the tea is grown in Malaysia and the area is famous for its stunning scenery and Tudor style buildings.

Day 7Cameron Highlands

Enjoy the day free to explore at your own time.

Day 8Cameron Highlands - Kuala Lumpur - Kota Kinabalu

This morning you will be taken back to Kuala Lumpur with a stop en route to visit the `secret garden` in Petaling Jaya (only open on weekends). After your short flight over to the island of Borneo you will be met by your new guide and taken to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu.

Day 9Kota Kinabalu - Sandakan - Kinabatangan River

Take an early flight to Sandakan where you will begin your rainforest adventure with a visit to Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre. Here you can hopefully see orang-utan at close quarters and learn more about the work being done here. Head up the Kinabatangan River later this morning where you can expect to see number of wild species of bird and mammal in Borneo`s most prolific wildlife habitat.

Day 10Kinabatangan River

Enjoy a full day exploring the Kinabatangan River on a private boat with your nature guide and boatman. You have two trips in the course of the day and will hopefully spot plenty of animals.

Day 11Kinabatangan River - Sandakan

Your boat to Sandakan leaves at 9am so you have a bit of a lie in today! In Sandakan you have the afternoon free and may like to visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre which has canopy walkways and an excellent orchid collection. As dusk falls you have a guided night walk through the Sepilok rainforest and may be lucky enough to see some of the nocturnal creatures that reside here such as flying fox, snakes and even tarsier.

Day 12Sandakan - Kota Kinabalu

Take the short flight back to Kota Kinabalu where you will be taken an hour up the coast to your beach hotel.

Day 13Kota Kinabalu

Relax by the pool or on the beach for your final full day away or visit the small nature reserve which is home to young orang-utan before they go to Sepilok.

Day 14Kota Kinabalu - Kuala Lumpur

Overnight flight from Borneo to the UK.

Day 15London

Early morning arrival in to the UK.
