The RV River Kwai on the River Kwai, Thailand.

From the mighty Mekong to the rich waters of the Andaman Sea, Thailand’s waters have traditionally played an important part in society and are still widely used for transport.

An excellent way to reach the ancient capital of Ayuthaya is to take a two night cruise onboard the Manohra Song, a beautiful converted rice barge. Leaving Bangkok, the city fades giving way to rural scenes as the boat follows the Chao Phraya river to bring you to these ancient temples.

The River Kwai can also be explored onboard the RV River Kwai, built according to the colonial plans of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, which chugs through rich, verdant scenery. Shore visits explore temples, historic sites, Khmer ruins and World War II monuments.
