Day 1London
Fly direct from London Heathrow to Bangkok
On arrival you will be met and escorted to your hotel by your guide and driver.
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your long flight.
An early start will get you to Wat Pho in time to experience the monk's early morning chanting ritual . After this uplifting and often private experience you will visit the temple grounds and the famous 45-metre Reclining Buddha.
Later you will continue to the Grand Palace, Thailand`s most important landmark, where you will be awed by the grandeur and majesty of the building and its throne halls. Then proceed to the Wat Phra Kaew to marvel at the mysterious Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image in Thailand.
Today you begin your journey into Isaan, the name given to the northeast region of Thailand. You will be driven northeast to Phimai Historical Park. A sensitive restoration project has meant that this is one of the country's best preserved Khmer temples. This majestic temple was built during the late 10th and early 11th centuries.
You then continue on to the town of Khorat where you will spend the night.
Day 5Khorat - Surin
This morning you depart Khorat for the town of Surin, via the early Khmer ruins at Phanom Rung, the largest of Thailand's Khmer monuments and arguably the most impressive.
From here you continue to Surin and your accommodation.
Today you depart Surin driving east to the Thai and Laos border, you will stop at Ban Tha Klang and the Elephant Study Centre.
From here you continue on to your hotel at Khong Jiam overlooking the confluence of the Mekong and Mun Rivers.
Day at leisure overlooking Laos.
Late afternoon you will take a trip on the river as the sun sets.
Crossing the border into Laos today, you will be met by your Laos guide and taken to your riverside accommodation.
En route you visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wat Phou, thought to be the blueprint for Angkor Wat itself. Allegedly worshipped at since the 5th century, Wat Phou was originally built by the Cham people and then renovated by the Khmer kings.
Spend the day exploring the protected area of the 4000 islands with your private guide.
Enjoy a morning at leisure before you are taken to the airport at Pakse for a flight to Luang Prabang.
A day to discover the highlights of the former ancient capital of northern Laos, Luang Prabang. Rise early to give alms as saffron-robed monks stream through the narrow streets and alleys. Visit the beautiful temple of Wat Xieng Thong, one of 30 stunningly gilded temples in the town, as well as the Kuang Si waterfalls a short drive from the town.
As dusk settles enjoy a sundowner on the banks of the Mekong and soak up the atmosphere of the night market with vendors selling a selection of well made handicrafts.
Today enjoy meandering through the streets of Luang Prabang and stopping off at numerous temples at your own pace.
A morning flight to Cambodia sees you arrive into Siem Reap at midday. You will be collected from the airport and once you have checked in, refreshed and had lunch, you have a private tour of Angkor Wat itself.
An unparalleled monument, Angkor Wat is seldom without the presence of other tourists but this does not reduce its impact or majesty. Simply breathtaking if not overwhelming, your guide will help you navigate its courtyards and chambers and make sense of one of the world's greatest man-made wonders.
In the early morning visit Ta Prohm. By far the most atmospheric of all the ruins, it has been reclaimed by the jungle and is being crushed by massive tree roots.
The rest of the morning is spent visiting the impressive fortified city of Angkor Thom. The most famous temple in this complex is the Bayon, with 216 enigmatic smiling faces.
This is followed after lunch by an afternoon on the Tonle Sap visiting the floating villages.
Heading out into the countryside around Siem Reap, you visit one of the biggest sites, Beng Melea, the most exquisitely carved temple, Banteay Srei and the sacred river at Kbal Spean.
In the morning your guide and driver will escort you back to the airport in time for your flight to Bangkok and then on to the UK.
