Fishing by hand in muddy paddies is a familiar site in Isaan
The countryside surrounding the town of Loei affords some pleasant and varied vistas.
From the winding route of the Mekong that separates Thailand and Laos, to the undulating mountains of the Phu Kradung National Park, with its many walking trails and picturesque waterfalls and the eccentric revelry of the Phi Ta Khon Festival.
Furthermore, the province also boasts a respected vineyard. The region is a convenient starting point or finale for a tour of Isaan.
When visiting hill tribes don't forget your camera but please do ask people before taking their photograph.
