Khao Sok National Park, Thailand
Elephant Hills, Khao Sok National Park, Thailand
Mahout at Elephant Hills camp
Situated only a two hour drive from Phuket airport, a visit to this national park combines well with a beach stay in Phuket, Krabi or Khao Lak.
The park covers an area of over 120,000 hectares of mostly virgin rainforest. There is plenty of wildlife in the park, although depending on the time of day it can be quite elusive, but your knowledgeable guide will help spot species such as gibbons and hornbills.
Khao Sok National Park is home to the rare Rafflesia, the world’s largest flower, which grows to a diameter of around 80 centimetres and blooms once a year in January or February.
When travelling to Thailand and the Far East in general, pick up a universal adaptator as many hotels have limited supplies.
