Koh Lanta, Thailand
Frangipani flowers are a common sight and smell delicious
Sunset view from the Pimalai on Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is a collection of small islands in the Andaman Sea and is one of the less developed regions.
Koh Lanta Yai is the largest and the only island with suitable accommodation.
The area is very quiet and offers beautiful beaches and lush green mountain backdrops. There are 15 islands which make up the Koh Lanta Marine National Park, where monkeys and other wildlife are very much in evidence.
Regular boat trips provide access to some of Thailand’s most highly rated diving spots, and Koh Lanta Yai is easily reached by boat from Krabi or Phuket which, in turn, are only a short flight from Bangkok.
Don’t leave Bangkok without sampling the food on offer from street vendors. For a matter of pence I have enjoyed some of the best pad thai and fresh barbequed delicacies in the country, local style!
