Waterfalls around Pai, Thailand
Pai is a convenient place to stop if you are driving back from Mae Hong Son to Chiang Mai.
Once a quiet little backwater, it has been discovered by more intrepid travellers in recent years.
Its appeal is in the surrounding countryside of unspoilt forest, thundering with waterfalls, riddled with huge limestone caves and dotted with traditional mountain villages.
This is an ideal base for longer treks amongst the stunning mountain scenery.
When travelling to Thailand and the Far East in general, pick up a universal adaptator as many hotels have limited supplies.
