    There are more than 100 cultural minority groups in the Philippines, and around half of these have unique linguistic cultures. The most well known are the Ifugao, and their culture is alive and well around the rice terraces of Banaue.

    Most of the Philippine islands feature volcanic mountains, several of which have been increasingly active since the 1980s. The most accessible are Mount Pinatubo which last erupted in 1991 and Taal volcano one crater of which erupted in 1977.

Amanpulo is the perfect sanctuary for those wishing for a peaceful and secluded stay in luxury on a beautiful remote tropical island paradise.

Activities, Sports & Relaxation

Activities at the Amanpulo are focused around watersports and boat charters and cruises, water sport lessons, snorkelling, fishing trips and the like can all be easily arranged. There is also a separate dive shop, which takes care of all diving equipment sales and hire, courses and diving trips. On the east side of the island, guests can arrange for windsurfers and hobiecat boats to be set up for outings.

The resort also offers a 30 metre swimming pool which is surrounded by sun loungers and various salas in which guests can relax.

Two tennis courts are available for use with the option of using complimentary equipment and playing partners where necessary. Next to the tennis courts there is also the well equipped gym.

Spa services including aromatherapy massages are offered to all guests in the Spa Casita, the guest's own casita or one of the open-air garden salas. They also offer various beauty treatments.

The Amanpulo offers three boutiques and galleries specialising in woven rugs, baskets, jewellery, pottery and other craft from the Palawan region, as well as Asian antiques, furniture and beach wear.

There is a well stocked library full of novels, travel guides, newspapers, magazines and coffee-table books. There is a DVD/CD library found here for guests to pick and choose from and there is free internet usage as well. If guests would like to have roaming internet access there is also island wide wi-fi connectivity.

Diving

Diving and snorkelling around Pamalican Island and further afield are excellent with abundant marine life and stunning coral gardens for all to enjoy.

The Dive Shop can arrange PADI courses for novices to dive masters as well as arranging various personalised dive packages for fun-divers. The house reef is excellent for all levels and for more experienced divers there are some sensational spots dropping down to below 30 metres in depth.

For guests who are thinking about diving extensively during a stay at the Amanpulo, it is worth considering the five night Underwater Experiences package, combining all costs associated with diving, multiple daily dives, breakfast and a gourmet picnic lunch every day as well.
